Fred Herzog is a highly collectible Vancouver-based artist who was born in Germany in 1930 and immigrated to Canada in 1953 in his early 20s.

His work is replete with images of his beloved adopted city and shows scenes of how ordinary middle-class Canadians lived. Herzog worked almost exclusively with Kodachrome slide film and was one of the few photographers that produced colour images back when black-and-white photography was still popular.

His images have this pop-art quality to them that appeal to a lot of collectors who want a reminder of life in a much simpler time.
